The UvA has joined the League of European Research Universities (LERU

The UvA has joined the League of European Research Universities (LERU), a network of renowned European research universities. This alliance advocates new initiatives to get the importance of fundamental scholarly research on the European agenda more prominently. LERU was founded in 2002 to be a network of research universities with a common vision on higher education and European research policy. Europe has lost its lead in international fundamental scholarly research and new initiatives are needed for regaining that position. LERU aims at radical changes in policy, management and funding of fundamental scholarly research in Europe. LERU advocates, among other things, European funds for excellent research, managed and awarded by a European Research Council, newly to be founded. Read more: Eurogates. Forum of education news
