Foreign doctors are leaving, members of Parliament warn

Members of the three coalition government parties asked Health Minister Hans Hoogervorst to prevent foreign doctors leaving the Netherlands for Britain and Germany. The complaint mainly relates to doctors who have been granted asylum in the Netherlands. Many find it almost impossible to get work here despite an expected shortage in the years ahead because of complicated rules and a long registration system. A new policy was introduced last year but MPs say it has only made the problem worse. Hoogervorst said it is too early to evaluate the effectiveness of the new system. Read more: Eurogates.
