HAN university: Bachelor Life Sciences

The Life Sciences program trains students for lab research positions in the growing pharmaceutical and biotechnical industry and universities. Our Bsc (and MSc) Applied Science graduates occupy key roles in research and development teams. They are in charge of executing the research work, co-ordinating lab assistants and conferring with senior researchers, professors and centres on improving and creating innovative lab methods. Professional opportunities Upon successful completion of their Life Sciences program, graduates can choose for a key position in a research and development team. Considering the global shortage in highly qualified lab personnel, there is rising demand for our students which is reflected in the attractive start-up salaries. Graduates work in R&D teams designing new drugs, finding anti-viral solutions, altering organisms like e-coli to produce useful medicine, changing DNA in malaria parasites, altering cultivation plants, analysing DNA profiles, diagnosing pathology samples, and the like. Other graduates continue in academic PhD programmes in reputable institutes and universities. A number has returned to their home countries to help there set up academic training programmes as well as setting up research institutes and biochemistry companies under the auspices of local ministries.
