InHolland University: Enertainment Management

The media and entertainment sector is in a constant flux. Digitisation is changing the creative process, the exploitation and publishing of products, the distribution infrastructures as well as the way people consume information, ranging from news to music and televisions shows from live-entertainment to games.

Globalisation points to the increasing scale on which information is shared and entertainment is marketed, world-wide. On the other hand, there is a straightforward revival of local cultural production, often based on a fusion of local and global elements. People use the products of the media and entertainment industries in their construction of identity, which makes those industries strong cultural forces as well as economic important branches. As a part of the so called creative industries the media and entertainment industries are important and potentially innovative players in the experience economy. At the same time they prove to be a crucial element in the vibrant atmosphere that produces creative cities.

The main goal and focus of the research of the research group media and entertainment management is to improve the professionalism of companies and organisations working in and with the media and entertainment sector and to contribute to its innovative potential, by creating, sharing and applying of relevant knowledge and information.
