Erasmus University: Erasmus University retains its 1st place in publications according to ESB-40

Erasmus University Rotterdam has once again attained the first position in the annual ESB Top 40 Economists list. Many EUR economists are among the top 40 most publishing economists and, among the participating universities, EUR is ranked as the university that publishes the most. EUR Professor Philip Hans Franse is number 1 on the list.

Every year the ESB publishes the names of the 40 top economists, which reflects on the international publications of economists associated with Dutch universities. In deciding who makes the Top 40 of 2008, ESB looked at the publication period between 2002 and 2006. For some, the Top 40 is also a useful instrument when it comes to distributing the scarce research funds of the various schools. A top position in the ESB also exemplifies that the university’s research policy promotes efforts that translate into these results.

With 60 publications in the relevant 5-year period, Philip Hans Franses’ output outnumbers that of his colleagues. It is also noteworthy to see that that the number of academics from the Erasmus University who have made it into the top 20 has doubled since last year. For the complete list, please refer to the website of the ESB (Economisch Statistische Berichten).
