New website & video's study at CHN University

The CHN was founded in 1985 following a merger between four teacher training programmes for Christian primary education in Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe, the Christelijke Hogere Hotelschool Leeuwarden and the Higher Vocational Education Youth Welfare programme in Leeuwarden. The educational tradition of the CHN therefore goes back to 1926, the years in which the Christian pedagogic academies in Leeuwarden and Groningen were founded. In its 2000 - 2005 business plan the CHN describes its mission for higher vocational education as follows: The CHN expresses its Biblical inspiration in a pluralistic educational community in which people with other ideological/religious/philosophical backgrounds feel at home and within which all are encouraged to contribute to and bear responsibility for the world in general and mankind in particular. The CHN provides innovative higher vocational education that is relevant and valuable to students and society. Applied research and service form an integral part of the educational concept. From the perspective of its communal educational vision, the CHN creates a challenging working environment, central to which is the learning student. Members of staff and students learn from and with each other, accept responsibility and adopt a critical approach to each other's attitude, quality and performance. The CHN creates a climate in which members of staff and students project enthusiasm and entrepreneurial spirit. This is the mission on which the CHN bases its approach as an enterprising university of professional education. The university responds actively to the philosophical issues and current social requirements of commercial organisations. The CHN also works continuously on improving the education in keeping with the changing job market. The education and service vision is inextricably bound with the enterprising character of the university. A vision in which the independently learning student and the client in the market play a central role. CHN University has presented a new version of the website.
