Bachelor diploma

In the Netherlands it is possible to follow Bachelor programmes at Research Universities and at Universities of Applied Sciences, known in Dutch as hogescholen.

A bachelor’s programme at a Research University requires 3 years of full-time study (180 credits) to complete while a bachelor’s programme offered by a University of Applied Sciences requires 4 years of full-time study (240 credits).

Admission for entering a bachelor's TOEFL score 550 (or 213 computer based) or IELTS score 6.5 is obligatory.

For the Bachelor programmes conducted in the Dutch applicants should have passed English and Dutch language tests. In this case a minimum TOEFL score 500 (or 173 computer based) or IELTS 6.0 is required and the official NT2 - II exam (Dutch as a second language, level 2)

The admission department can decide on the basis of the school- leaving certificate whether the applicant: qualifies for immediate admission to a degree course or must first improve the knowledge of certain subjects before admission following a preparatory course.

Some universities have such preparatory courses for international students in Dutch and in English. Only after meeting all the conditions for the minimum standard required, the applicant will obtain the admission notification.
