The Hague University of Applied Sciences offers the Academic Preparation Course (Prep school) for prospective students who aim to join one of the degree programmes at this or another Dutch institution. This course’s goal is to improve English skills to the proficiency level of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent with the accent on the academic language and study skills, necessary for successful higher education in Holland.
The Hague prep course consists of intensive teaching and self-study project periods. During project periods, which can be done individually or in groups, students can be coached and supported by teachers and university students in case they need the support. They also gain access to each and every learning facility they may need and can benefit from the international environment of the Hague University, communicating with thousands of Dutch and foreign students, socialising and making new friends.
The full year prep school includes final and 3 intermediate exams. One of them, in December, is exceptionally important as its negative results can lead to the student’s exclusion.
All students of the course are provided with the iPads and all soft they need to learn efficiently as well as an access to unlimited high-speed Wi-Fi internet, available in any room of the university. Students who perform well at the final exam become the owners of these iPads for free.
Tuition fees for the 2013-2014 year are adjusted to € 7890 for the 1 year course and € 3950 for the 6 months course. Students from non-EU/EEA countries have to pay the package fees as a proof that they can cover living expenses for the course duration. After arranging visa and health insurance the Hague admission office will transfer remained funds to the student’s bank account.
To be accepted to the course students must pass IELTS or TOEFL test with appropriate results and be eligible for a university degree programme.
