International Hotel Management, Stenden University, Bachelor degreeThe Dutch-Flemish Accreditation Organization (Nederlands-Vlaamse Accreditatie Organisatie, NVAO) in The Hague has granted the HBO Bachelor program of International Hospitality Management (IHM) in Leeuwarden a positive evaluation. The accreditation testing to which the program was subjected this spring demonstrated that IHM scored well in no less than seventeen points and that it obtained a sufficient score in four points.

This provides the program with an exceptionally high score that by far exceeds the national average for programs accredited until now. Adjunct Chairman Klaas-Wybo van der Hoek of the Executive Board of Stenden University Netherlands, is quite pleased about the result. "It is fantastic that we obtained such a high score. The high score was not only in the area of internationalization but it was also a reward for our efforts to improve the quality of education." IHM Leeuwarden is also highly appreciated by the students.

Last year, IHM obtained a top position in the poll regarding the appreciation for educational programs organized by the Elsevier magazine. Van der Hoek thinks that NVAO's positive accreditation demonstrates that the innovations that were introduced by the school were worth the effort. He expects that the good result will contribute to the successful growth of the program in Leeuwarden and on the other campus sites in South Africa, Qatar and Thailand.

"This accreditation allows us to further expand our contacts abroad and, internationally, to recruit even more students." NVAO safeguards the quality of university education in The Netherlands and Flanders as a national organization for accreditation. The legal testing is a prerequisite for funding, for the allocation of student grants and loans, and for Stenden University's right to issue a nationally recognised diploma. The accreditation is valid for six years.
