Since 20 July travellers with a 5 hour or longer layover at Schiphol can take a new trip to Amsterdam by in an amphibious bus. The floating bus goes by road from Schiphol to Amsterdam, where it goes by water for a tour of the canals.

The bus drives to the so-called 'Splash Zone' bij Science Centre NEMO. At this place the Floating Dutchman will 'splash' into the water and goes by canals. The bus  continues the journey as a boat. Then the canal cruise will last about 45 minutes.

From Science Centre NEMO the amphibus will float towards the Amstels river, via the Nieuwe Herengracht. On the Amsterdam river the bus will turn left towards the Skinny Bridge and Royal Theater Carre. Once the Skinny Bridge has been reached, the bus will turn around and pass City Hall.

Via the Oude Schans and the Oosterdok the bus will return to NEMO, exit the canals. After the canal cruise the bus will return to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. As one can understand the passengers are not allowed to leave the bus during the tour. :)
