Universities in Holland promote themselves as an alternative for British students. Shortage of universities places in Great Britain forced UK students to look around and come to study at Universities in the Netherlands.
A staggering 160,000 school-leavers in Great Britain are not be able to find a place at university in their home country.
The British government is very strict about not allowing the number of students with university places grow. But the number of school-leavers in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland entering higher education is increasing and it is even being stimulated.
More and more people want to follow higher education, while the relative number of places is not increasing. Universities in Holland promote them self and gladly invite Britisch students to come to study in Holland.
For intstance, Maastricht University attracts this year UK students and school - leavers. The university has a good reputation internationally. An increase in the number of foreign students will certainly add to that reputation. Maastricht is an attractive town of old cobbled streets.
The city is situated in the southern-most corner of the Netherlands, it is minutes from the borders with both Germany and Belgium. There are restaurants and bars almost everywhere you look.
Its university is also considered to be one of the best in Europe. The prices for study programmes are relatively low. The fees here are about £1,500 a year.
