Dutch universities are placed on the second place in Europe after Great Britain on the reputation ranking of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.
The ranking clearly indicates that the Netherlands score highly in the field of research, with 5 Dutch universities among the best 100. Both Germany and France have 4 universities on the top list.
According to Times Higher Education, “The ranking clearly shows that investment in higher education produces world-class universities capable of attracting the best students and academics”.
The annual reputation rankings, which complement the prestigious World University Rankings, are based on the world’s largest survey of academic opinion and provide a unique insight into the shifting academic prestige of institutions. The highest placed Dutch institution on the list is Delft University of Technology, at 51-60, followed by the University of Amsterdam (71-80), Utrecht University (71-80), Leiden University (81-90) and Wageningen University (91-100).
The super group is headed by Harvard University in 1st place, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2nd), the University of Cambridge (3rd), Stanford University (4th), the University of California, Berkeley (5th) and the University of Oxford (6th).
The Times Reputation Ranking complements the new Times Higher Education ranking since 2010. In that year separated the roads of Times Higher Education and QS reputation ranking, which makes its own reputation ranking. In the last QS ranking Dutch universities the University of Amsterdam, Utrecht and Leiden were in the top 100.
