Stenden University of Applied Sciences has become the first institution in Holland to meet the standards of Excellence set by the International Center of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education (ICE).
Its Tourism and Hotel Management programs are now internationally recognized as providing the graduates with high-quality tourism and hospitality education and the Stenden University has become an Associate Member of the ICE.
The recognition from ICE is an important step towards promoting the Stenden University world-wide in the community of tourism, hospitality, culinary arts and events education. It is considered to be a thorough and independent review of the study courses. The university welcomes that its commitment to excellence in this field has not gone unnoticed.
In their evaluation the ICE pointed out the strong points of Stenden University: emphasis on research skills development and the exceptional facilities, among which there is Stenden hotel, restaurant, bar and campus sites on three continents. Thanks to its international character and focus on Real World Learning the alumni are very well prepared for work in today’s hotel and tourism industry.

The studying at Stenden is known for its balance between theory and practice. The practical part of the study takes place in a professional 4-star hotel, Stenden University Hotel. Students start on the operational levels (first year) and work themselves up to the managers of departments (third year).
