Wittenborg’s block system
IBA Bachelor’s programmes at Wittenborg UAS last 3 or 4 years and consist of three phases: theory & knowledge, understanding & planning, and strategy & practice. Each phase is equal to 80 ECTS credits.
The first and second phases are split into 6 six-week blocks. During the last phase, IBA students have only 2 of these blocks per year in order to have enough time for their 3 months internship and to catch up on any incomplete modules.
Study blocks consist of the following parts: 2 lesson weeks, a project week, another 2 lesson weeks, and an examination week. These blocks usually cover 2-3 core topics (modules), each of which is taught for around 24 hours, divided up during lesson weeks as two 3 hour sessions. Project weeks are based on consultancy assignments provided by companies that partner with the university. Exams and assessments are held during the last week of a block.
