Five Dutch Universities in Top 100 of the QS World University Rankings

The 12th edition of the QS World University Rankings was published on September 15th, 2015, revealing top 800 universities in the world. All 13 Dutch research universities were scored among the best 300 institutions, while five of them have also made it into the top 100.

Overall results of Dutch universities

The University of Amsterdam (UvA) was ranked 55th and took the top place in The Netherlands for the sixth consecutive year. UvA was also named the national leader in the Life & Medicine category (32nd place in the world) with top performing programmes in Communication & Media Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Development Studies, Medicine, Geography, Linguistics, Modern Languages, Politics & International Studies, and Economics & Econometrics.

Delft University of Technology climbed up by 22 positions, becoming 64th worldwide and 2nd best nationally. The three other Dutch institutions that made the top 100 in the 2015 QS rankings were Utrecht University (94th), Leiden University (95th), and the University of Groningen (100th).

Top universities worldwide

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) topped the overall QS ranking fourth year in a row, followed by Harvard University (2nd), the University of Cambridge, and Stanford University (both 3rd). California Institute of Technology (Caltech) improved its last year result by 3 positions and became 5th, while the University of Oxford concluded the top 6.
