Saxion University campus in EnschedeNew non-EU students applying to a Bachelor’s programme at Saxion University of Applied Sciences may be eligible for one of the university’s bursaries. They cover fees and costs of education partially or in full and can be worth up to € 10,000.

The Saxion Talent Scholarship (STS), Saxion Holland Top Talent Scholarship (SHTTS), and Saxion Living Technology Scholarship (SLTS) are all available to international students that are new to the school. Students who passed their first year can also apply for the Extended Saxion Talent Scholarship (ESTS).

All of these bursaries are paid in the form of a tuition fee reduction.

Saxion Talent Scholarship (STS)

Students from outside of the EU that are applying for admission to a Bachelor’s programme are also automatically applying for the Saxion Talent Scholarship. This grant reduces study costs for the first academic year and is awarded to excellent students who aren’t receiving any other scholarships. The tuition reduction amount will depend on previous study results.

The number of the STS bursaries granted each year is limited. It is recommended that eligible students start their application process as soon as possible as these bursaries are awarded on a first come, first served basis.

Saxion Holland Top Talent Scholarship (SHTTS)

The Saxion Holland Top Talent Scholarship is another bursary that is made available to outstanding students from a non-EU country. Those accepted into a Bachelor’s course at Saxion are able to apply for the STTS to help reduce tuition fees. An average mark of 75% or higher and IELTS results of at least 6.5 are required in order to be eligible for this scholarship.

Receivers of the grant will have their tuition fee reduced for the first year to the governmental registration fee of € 1,951 (in 2015-2016) and will save € 5,849 during that year.

To apply for the STTS, eligible students need to complete the application form on Saxion’s website and upload all of the necessary documents, including grading lists for the last 2 years, an English language certificate, a recommendation letter, and a motivation essay.

Saxion University welcomes new students in DeventerThe SHTTS application deadlines are:

  • May 1st for programmes starting in September, and
  • December 1st for programmes starting in February.

This scholarship is awarded for the first academic year only.

As of the 2015-2016 academic year, Saxion University will offer a new bursary called the Saxion Living Technology Scholarship (SLTS). This scholarship is available to new non-EU students applying to technical Bachelor’s programmes at the university.

The SLTS is worth € 10,000. This sum fully covers tuition fees for the first year of study and also reduces expenses for housing, insurance, and the required student visa & residence permit. The application requirements and deadlines for this scholarship are the same as for the SHTTS bursary.

Extended Saxion Talent Scholarship (ESTS)

Bachelor’s students that receive an STS, SHTTS or SLTS bursary during their first study year at Saxion and are continuing onto the 2nd year of their programme may be eligible for the Extended Saxion Talent Scholarship. In order to be eligible, students must complete their first year with at least 54 European Credits to receive this partial grant. ESTS can also be awarded to 3rd and 4th year Bachelor’s students.
