Scholarships for international students at Tilburg University’s schools

Tilburg University offers numerous bursaries to new international students that have applied for a research Master’s (MSc, MA or LLM) programme at one of its four schools. In many cases these scholarships partially cover living expenses and also can function as a tuition waiver for non-EU students paying an institutional fee.

The selection criteria for most of the bursaries at Tilburg University are based on the academic excellence of candidates. Some scholarships are available only to those students who have graduated from Tilburg University’s partnering institutions.

Scholarships at Tilburg University are among the most accessible in Holland.

TSB and TSH scholarships

In the 2015-2016 academic year, the Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (TSB) and the Tilburg School of Humanities (TSH) will offer a total of 17 scholarships for EEA and non-EEA students. To be eligible for a grant, a student must have an average grade of 8 (out of 10) or be in the top 10% of their class.

All scholarship holders will receive € 5,000 per year to cover part of their living expenses. Students who are paying an institutional fee will also receive a tuition waiver of € 9,000. These grants are awarded for one year of education and can be extended to a second year for students who continue to have excellent study results.

The application deadline for TSB and TSH scholarships is April 1st.

TLS scholarships

Tilburg Law School (TLS) offers the following two types of scholarships:

  • The TLS Montesquieu Scholarship is automatically awarded to all non-EEA students admitted to the prestigious LLM Research Master in Law programme and reduces tuition fees by 85%.
  • The TLS Global Scholarship is for non-EEA students who have graduated from one of Tilburg University’s partner institutions. This bursary covers 25% of programme costs and doesn’t require an additional application from candidates.

TiSEM scholarships

Tilburg University campusThe Tilburg School of Economics and Management (TiSEM) offers a wide variety of bursaries for new Master’s students. The most popular ones are listed below.

  • The Koopmans Scholarship is a full grant awarded to exceptional non-Dutch new students joining a research Master’s programme at TiSEM in the 1st or 2nd year. It is worth € 1,000 per month and includes a tuition waiver for non-EU students.
  • CentER Scholarships are provided to TiSEM’s research Master’s students joining a programme in the 1st or 2nd year. A scholarship is worth € 420 net per month, plus a tuition waiver for non-EU students.

The application deadline for Koopmans and CentER scholarships is February 1st.

  • TiSEM Partner Scholarships are granted to students enrolled in a one-year Master’s programme at TiSEM. These students must have completed a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field at one of Tilburg University’s partner institutions in order to qualify. The scholarship reduces study costs by € 3,000.
  • All students who apply to the International Master in Management and IT (IMMIT) programme before the 1st of April are automatically considered candidates for the IMMIT scholarship. Five of these bursaries are available for EU and non-EU students in the 2015-2016 academic year. The amounts given range from € 500 to € 2,800, depending on the student’s financial capacity and study results. Second-year non-EU students also receive a tuition waiver worth € 4,098.
  • Excellence Scholarships are available for students who obtained their Bachelor’s degree at Tilburg University. Scholarship holders can receive a € 2,500 grant and up to € 5,000 towards covering tuition fees.
