Students very satisfied with degree programmes at Hanze UAS, Groningen

Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen received positive feedback from both international and Dutch students in 2014. StudyPortal awarded the university with a Certificate for Excellent International Student Satisfaction while the Elsevier Magazine rankings, based on the annual National Student Questionnaire, named Hanze UAS the 3rd best medium-sized professional university in the Netherlands.

Reputation among international students StudyPortal’s research is based on reviews given by international students studying at European universities. Students assessed many topics related to their study programmes including professors, personal and professional development, cost of education, social life, and more.

The Netherlands results in the StudyPortal's rankingsAccording to this ranking, 13 Dutch research and professional universities scored between 8 and 9.5 (out of 10) and received “very good”, “excellent”, or “outstanding” awards. Hanze UAS, Groningen was ranked as the best university of applied sciences in the Netherlands. It is the only UAS institution to score between 9 and 9.4 points, resulting in its receival of a Certificate for Excellent International Student Satisfaction.

The university offers many Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes that are taught in English with more being added every year. With about 1,900 students from 80 different nationalities, Hanze UAS provides a great environment for students who wish to develop their international skills.

Evaluation by Dutch students

Dutch students also have a very good opinion about programmes at Hanze UAS, Groningen. The 2014 edition of the Elsevier Rankings, based on the annual National Student Questionnaire (Nationale Studenten Enquete, NSE), placed the university in 3rd place among Dutch medium-sized applied universities (those offering between 20 and 55 programmes). Hanze also maintained its status as the leading professional educational institution in the north of the Netherlands.

16 of Hanze’s programmes topped their categories in the Elsevier 2014 ranking, adding 6 programmes to last year’s list of 10.

Nighttime GroningenHanze UAS is on the rise

The growing reputation of Hanze UAS has piqued the interest of many prospective students from all over the world, attracting them to Hanze’s top-quality programmes. Around 16,400 international students visited the university’s locations in Groningen and Leeuwarden during the November 8th Open Day event, 2,000 more than this time last year. These numbers also break the previous record of 16,200 attendees, reached at the university’s Open Day last March.

In 2014, Hanze UAS, Groningen also launched a new website with easy-to-use navigation and comprehensive information about its programmes and other topics related to studying at the university.
