Do you want to gain the knowledge and skills needed in Business, ICT, and Management while following a single study programme? Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen provides students with this possibility! The university’s international Bachelor’s programme HBO-ICT now offers a 4-year major in Business IT & Management (BITM).
Become a business analyst and consultant
The BITM programme prepares professionals in the crosscutting areas of Business and IT to fill a specific niche in the labour market. Students will learn how to develop a business idea using Information and Communications Technology (ICT) tools and how to optimise IT features for business purposes. This knowledge will provide graduates with an advantage in any company, allowing them to act as a “bridge” between managers and IT staff by being able to understand the technology involved, while also being able to speak the managerial language.
Some of the topics covered in the BITM programme include business intelligence, big data, data visualization, information architecture, databases, IT management, business process management, information security, and finance.
The benefits of studying and living in Groningen
Groningen is known as a student city and has been named a European leader in terms of its educational facilities, health care services, and public spaces, according to the European Commission (2013). It has also been identified as the 3rd most innovative city in Europe by the 2014 iCapital competition.
The city offers a wonderful place to live and work, combining historical buildings with modern architecture, and has much to offer its citizens, especially those that are students. With a young population (half of which is under 35 years of age), various pubs, cafes, and discotheques, Groningen is a place where one can never be bored!

What a current student says about the BITM programme
Here is why Eimert Vink, a 4th year student in Business IT & Management, chose this programme: “I can of course advise everyone to go and study at Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen, but you must choose the school and study programme that suit you best. Business IT & Management appealed to me the most because it explores the technical side of ICT as well as the more commercial side. For example, you have lots of contact with clients, interested parties and users. The stereotypical image of an ICT professional, huddled away behind his computer in an attic, simply no longer applies to the modern world.”
