To plan their budget accordingly, students enrolled in degree programmes at Dutch universities should take into account some additional expenses next to tuition and potential visa fees. These supplementary expenses usually include a laptop, study materials, books, and other components, access to some of the university’s facilities, study excursions, and internship services.
This article breaks down some of the approximated extra costs of the Hotel Management Bachelor’s programme at NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences. As of the 2015-2016 study year, the following costs can be expected:
- Textbooks:
- first year: € 550;
- other years: may vary;
- Company visits and excursions:
- first year: € 400;
- second year: € 375;
- third year: € 350;
- The Sibelicious uniform that is to be worn at the training company, including an apron, a scarf/tie and two blouses: € 90;
- Costs of the Sibelicious facilities and the Food & Beverage components of the curriculum, such as utensils/cutlery and ingredients for the kitchen and restaurant facilities: € 175;
- Intermediary services for your placement abroad in the second year: € 275.
Students are also required to have a laptop that operates using one of the following systems: Microsoft Windows XP SP3, Microsoft Windows Vista SP2, Microsoft Windows 7 SP1, or Microsoft Windows 8. A wireless network interface card, all Windows updates, and the latest anti-virus software are also a requirement.
Tuition fees at NHTV Breda
For the 2015-2016 study year, the following tuition fees are applicable to NHTV’s programmes:
- € 1,951 per year for EU/EEA students who haven’t yet received a degree at a Dutch university (statutory tuition fee);
- € 8,910 per year for all other students (institution tuition fee).
