The programme teaches to analyze economic and political issues of our society, set up right goals and make complex decisions to pursue them effectively. The programme graduates work as economists, politics and analytics at Dutch or international organisation. Master of Science diploma also grants access to PhD programmes at the leading research universities in the Netherlands and abroad.

VU Master’s programme in Economics is taught in English and takes 1 year to complete. Students study core disciplines and choose one of the following four specialisations:

  • Development Economics,
  • Public Policy,
  • International and Macroeconomic Policy, or
  • Global Challenges.

According to the Studiekeuze123 report, main programme’s strengths are teacher quality and the development of general skills. Here is what one of its recent graduates says about the course:
