Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam provides scholarships to outstanding students applying for the Bachelor’s programme in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE). The scholarships fully cover tuition fees for the first study year and can be extended for subsequent years.
Designing future leaders
The PPE programme prepares students for a career as an administrator, politician, consultant, or manager in a financial organisation. Students learn to assess social issues from different perspectives and find the most effective way to solve these issues.
The programme is 3 years long and is taught entirely in English. Its curriculum consists of lectures, seminars, and practical assignments which give students the academic knowledge and hands-on experience needed to become future leaders of society.
Upon graduation, students receive a Bachelor of Arts diploma and are able to start a career right away. Alternatively, they can apply for a Master’s programme to further their studies at a university in the Netherlands or abroad.
Covering tuition fee for outstanding students
Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam provides scholarships to exceptional students that are applying for the PPE programme this year. The scholarship fully covers tuition fees for the first study year. For non-EU students, this scholarship is worth €11,000.
Scholarship recipients who complete all European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) points during the first study year will also have their tuition fees covered for the second and third years of the programme.
To apply for this scholarship, students must:
- Apply for the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics Bachelor’s programme through the national Studielink portal and also through the VUnet portal.
- Ssend an application for the PPE scholarship to ppe@vu.nl. Attach proof of your academic excellence (average grade must be at least 8 out of 10), a motivation letter, and a financial plan to your application. In your motivation letter, explain why you deserve the scholarship. In your financial plan, calculate all expenses for 3 years of study and show that the scholarship will help you have sufficient funds that you may otherwise not have.
The application deadline for the PPE scholarship is March 1st, 2017. Successful applicants will be notified a month after the application deadline, on April 1st, and will have approximately 2 weeks to accept or decline the offer.
