Application deadlines for both Bachelor's and Master's programmes
Detailed infoBachelor's programmes in EnglishGeneral informationFontys University of Applied Sciences is a combination of 31 schools with its major campuses located in the South of the Netherlands. The majority of these schools offer Dutch education, yet, Fontys does offer a number of both English taught bachelor and master programs. The campuses in Venlo and Eindhoven are the campuses which have the highest number of English taught programs. The programs which are offered in these two cities are adapted to the actual focus of the region: The Eindhoven area is also named the Brainport region, since many high-tech companies, such as Philips, ASML, and DAF have head offices there. Consequently, technical programs and a business program are offered here. The city of Venlo on the other hand is “the Logistics Hotspot” no. 1 in the Netherlands. Consequently, a lot of companies are located here with a focus on logistics, business and agriculture. Some examples of these companies are Océ (a Canon company), Oerlemans Food B.V., and ZON Fruit & Vegetables. As a result, the Fontys campus in this location offers English education in international fresh business, general business and logistics. Over 5,000 international students originating from more than 70 countries study at Fontys. Fontys ranks first among universities of applied sciences, and second overall in the country, when it comes to the amount of registered foreign students. Some quick facts about Fontys
Educational approachFontys’ teaching has been geared to take into account developments in society and the employment market and our course programs are highly practice-oriented. Internships and practical assignments ensure that students are able to make worthwhile contributions to any businesses or institutions within a short period after graduation. Fontys strongly beliefs that theory is important, but that in the end students should know how this theory needs to be applied into practice. Although Fontys is one of the larger institutions in the south of the Netherlands, Fontys focuses on teaching on a small scale. This ensures each student has the possibility to connect with the teaching staff to develop and improve throughout their study. For students from other cultural backgrounds this informal relation with lecturers often is different from what they are used to in their home country. Awards and RankingsThe Keuzegids HBO 2017 guide placed Fontys UAS in 5th position among large-sized Dutch professional universities with a total score of 60.0 points. Related blog posts
