Maastricht University (UM) is known for its international outlook – almost half of the 16,000 students attending UM come from abroad, as does 30% of the teaching staff. UM offers a lot of internationally oriented academic programmes in English, with a focus on research at every step of the educational process.
The use of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) for more than 35 years has made UM an expert in this educational approach. PBL facilitates the exchange of knowledge in a challenging, yet effective way. UM is also very focused on multidisciplinary research, as well as close cooperation with international business, industry, and institutes.
