General information

Windesheim Honours College (WHC) is a part of Windesheim University of Applied Sciences. It is located in Zwolle, a medium-sized city in the east of The Netherlands, just over one hour’s drive from Amsterdam.

Every year approximately fifty students enroll in a WHC program, with about 60% of them coming from abroad. College students live in the student residence for the first two years of their program where they can socialize and make new international friends without having to worry about finding housing.

Specialization

WHC offers a four-year Bachelor’s programme in International Change and Project Management. Students in this program graduate with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree, with specialization in one of the four fields of Urban Economics, Health, Social Entrepreneurship or Civil Society. WHC focuses on teaching its students how to change the world using a structural and realistic approach. Global issues and sustainability are emphasized at Windesheim Honours College.

Educational approach

Work experience is a big part of the WHC curriculum, as both knowledge and the ability to apply that knowledge are important aspects of the educational approach. The curriculum focuses on including more and more possibilities to gain relevant work experience during each of the four years of the program.

In the first year, students end each semester with a project based on a real-life situation. The second year consists of developing project management and research skills while learning more about the two specialization tracks. Students will also get to opportunity to participate in an International Sustainable Business project, somewhere in Africa.

The third and fourth years will consist of elective courses for students, as well as two internships of six months each. Assignments, projects, and extracurricular activities are all deeply rooted in experiential learning to help students develop their skills in order to have prosperous careers as international sustainable leaders.

Awards and Rankings

The “Top-rated programme” awardWindesheim Honours College received a score of 90 out of 100 in the National Student Survey 2016, scoring well for the third year in a row. The survey, used as a basis for the two well-known annual national rankings, Elsevier and the Keuzegids, asks students to describe their satisfaction with the education, teaching methods, and other relevant aspects of the institution.

Windesheim University of Applied Sciences was rated 3rd among broad vocational insitutions in the Netherlands by the Elseiver 2016 ranking. Keuzegids HBO 2017 ranking placed it on the 2nd position among larger Dutch UAS.

The Keuzegids HBO report has also specially recommended Windesheim Honours College as having an ‘excellent’ program in the Business Administration category.

Holland Scholarship

Windesheim Honours College takes part in the Holland Scholarship and offers a lump sum payment of € 5,000 for eligible non-EU/EEA students for the first year of their studies.

Students apply via Studielink, and are invited for an interview and a selection day after their application has been received and reviewed. Student from non-EU/EEA countries must apply until May 1st, 2016 for the Global Project and Change Management programme if they want to make use of the scholarship.

Regular tuition fee for non-EU/EEA students is € 6,500 per year. For application information and programme details, please visit the WHC website.
